This course is designed for Millennials and Gen Z people who are interested in exploring living a deeper spirituality in the midst of our busy and demanding lives. This introduction will reveal teachings of the Fourth Way and the work of George Gurdjieff.
The Fourth Way is a path to self-awareness and self-development based in methods of self-observation and practice. It is not a religion, and can be combined with any traditional religious belief, but also works when we are not identified with any particular religion. It includes elements of both Eastern and Western spiritualities, as well as perspectives from modern psychology and philosophy. Developed by Gurdjieff, this approach shows us the relationship between the patterns of our personality, and deeper capacities and qualities that we can learn to access more powerfully.
We will explore the key concepts of the Fourth Way, including the idea of centers and the process of transformation, the roles of attention and intention, and the practice of self-observation. We will also briefly look at the context of this work, and the ways that it can bring us into a greater sense of ourselves and our purpose in life. We will weave in some practical exercises and techniques to help you apply the principles of the Fourth Way in your daily life.
By the end of this course, you will have received an introduction to the Fourth Way teachings, as well as some practical tools for cultivating a life grounded in self-awareness, mindfulness, and inner transformation.
