Hiring a leader is a pivotal decision for any organization.

It is estimated the cost of a bad hire is as much as 15 times an employee’s base salary, according to GH Smart.

So for a role that is $100,000 that can cost a company $1.5 million or more.

Whether you’re a startup looking to expand your leadership team or an established company seeking fresh perspectives, finding the right executive can significantly impact your company’s success.

However, the process can be complex and daunting.

Let me start by saying there is no such thing as a perfect fit for a role – the trick is for the role to be a good fit for the company, and the individual you are hiring. The relationship is critical.

In the coming months we will be going through the leadership hiring process creatively, specifically:

  • How to create a job description;
  • How to source amazing candidates;
  • How to screen for top candidates;
  • How to assess for cultural fit and leadership style in the interview process;
  • How to reference check;
  • How to onboard and support the new leader.

Each of these blogs will include some standard practices and some creative flairs that you can apply to your organization.

In conclusion, hiring a leader requires careful thoughtful planning, thorough evaluation, and strategic decision-making.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can increase your chances of finding the right leader who will drive creativity, innovation, and success for your organization.

Remember, investing time and effort in the hiring process is essential for building an impactful, creative,  and cohesive leadership team that will  help your organization fulfill its vision.
